The Bradley Method classes teach natural childbirth and view birth as a natural, not medical process. It is our belief that most women with proper education, preparation and the help of a loving and supportive coach can be taught to give birth naturally. Singles moms and same sex couples are welcome. Anyone can be your coach- friends, family, or a professional labor doula. The Bradley Method� is a system of natural labor techniques in which a woman and her coach play an active part. It is a simple method of increasing self-awareness, teaching a woman how to deal with the stress of labor by tuning in to her own body. The Bradley Method� encourages mothers to trust their bodies using natural abdominal breathing and relaxation. Nutrition, exercise, and education also play key roles in successful labor preparation. In addition our classes cover labor rehearsals, informed consent, birth plans, variations of labor, and possible interventions to help couples have the birth experience of their choice. We also include post partum care, newborn baby care, breast feeding and an introduction to attachment parenting and baby wearing. Class tuition which includes a student workbook over 120 pages is $200. You will also have access to my lending library of books and videos. Registration is Required. Each class series will include a student workbook, access to my lending library and videos, games and prizes, demonstrations, guest speakers including other Bradley parents sharing their birth stories and discussion. Twenty-four hour telephone support is always available to our students for pregnancy, labor, breastfeeding, postpartum, and new parenting issues. One of the biggest challenges any overweight person must face is how to deal with stress. We all have stress; it's hardly a unique trait. How we respond to it, however, can make or break your journey to healthy living. What I used to do was sneak around and eat. Or I'd sneak off to Waffle House for a 1200 calorie meal. I like to think I'm a laid back person, but really what I am is a person who has trained herself to pretend there is no problem. If I catch myself having trouble resisting a particularly tasty treat, I make less of it, or not have it so often. Over time, this has added up to big changes. This week, I resolved to STOP my late night snacking. That was what was sabotaging my efforts. But the last two days, I've stopped doing that. If I DO have a snack, it's a very small one, like a slice of cheese or a string cheese stick. I like cheese. But more importantly, when I do snack during the day, or make a meal, I've been trying to be healthier. That turkey stroganoff I made last night was just as good as my usual, but half the calories... just by substituting the meat. The last three weeks have been one of the most hellishly stressful I've experienced in a very long time, but I have NOT turned to food for solace. Not only have I not gained weight like I usually do, I've lost. The first time my husband was hospitalized, I spend the time I had alone going to restaurants, dining on fried cheese sticks, wings, anything to make me feel better. I don't know when that shift happened, but I like it. I like it a lot. Oh, and that 187 came back this morning. If it's still there tomorrow, I'm counting it, baby.
Especially during the first and second month and continuing throughout pregnancy, it is a great idea to avoid exposure to harmful or toxic substances, including things like smoking, alcohol, medications, chemicals or fumes and pesticides. Our next step was a visit to the doctor who told me the fastest ways to get pregnant was IVF. Unhappily I made an appointment. It was also around this time that I found a blend of fertility herbs and vitamins from a Chinese herbalist. It was around $30 a bottle from memory. I think it had a blend of Dong Quai, False Unicorn Root and other things in it. On the second month of taking this I was pregnant. I never made my IVF appointment thankfully. Obviously this blend of herbs was enough to balance my hormones sufficiently to get pregnant.
